Biography

Mary Johnston is listed as Henry's first wife and sister of Celia and Elizabeth, the daughters of Dr. Johnston. Henry Ledbetter joined the Conference as a Methodist Minister and married Mary after he had been riding the Conference for four years. They had five children before she died. ^[1] Her husband Henry lived longer than she did, and he is buried at Eastview Cemetery, Wadesboro, Anson, North Carolina and was married twice more after her death. ^[2]

Research Note

Mary Johnston Ledbetter's death is listed as before 1808, as that is when Henry married his second wife. It looks like their last child was born around 1804.
