Biography

Mary was born in 1928. She was the daughter of Frank Johnston and Lillian Porter.

She married Brian Clifford on August 19, 1956.[1]

Mary Clifford, wife of the late Brian Clifford, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Kings Way Care Centre in Quispamsis where she had resided for the past six years. Mary was born in Loch Lomond, NB on April 15, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Frank and Lillian (Porter) Johnston.

As an 80 year resident of Loch Lomond, Mary was well known in the community. She loved to attend dances and neighbourhood parties, play a good game of cards with "the gang", and always had a knitting project on the go. Together with her husband Brian, she enjoyed many Florida vacations and road trips with their friends to Bangor. Mary always held a special place in her heart for children and was known as the candy lady on her street. She loved playing with her two grandchildren when they were young, then attending their varied activities as they grew and was always quick to share a current photo which she had tucked in her purse. While at Kings Way Care Centre, Mary rarely missed taking part in the many social activities and shared her warm smile with everyone who stopped to chat.

Mary was a long-time member of All Saints Church (Loch Lomond) where she was active in the ACW and alter guild. Later in life she attended Silver Falls United Church with her sister Jean and then St. David’s Church where she enjoyed the fellowship at the KV Seniors Club. Mary is survived by her daughter, Jean Magee (Mark) of Quispamsis; grandchildren, Brian and Laura; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Jean Johnston.
