Biography

Thomas Johnston Jr. was born 1753 in East Conogocheague, Pennsylvania, the son of Thomas Johnston and Sarah (Johnstone) Johnston. Thomas enlisted as a Private in Captain Jack's company, under the command of Colonel Allison of the Cumberland County, Pennsylvania Militia. [1]

In 1780, in Pennsylvania, Thomas married Martha Glenn. They moved to the St. Louis area in 1796. Thomas and Martha were the parents of children including the following:

  • Sarah 'Sally' Johnston, born in Pennsylvania, married Jonathan Wiseman on January 3, 1799 in Harrison County, WV
  • Elizabeth Johnston, born in Pennsylvania married Phillip Shultz (aka Shoults) December 9, 1800 in St. Charles Borromeo Church
  • Benjamin Johnston, born May 13, 1821 in Culpepper, Virginia, died about 1897 in Marion County, Missouri, married Elizabeth Shultz

Thomas died in 1830 Jefferson County, Missouri. [2]
