Elizabeth Johnston was born 5 October 1855 in Amaranth township, Wellington, Canada West (now Amaranth township, Dufferin, Ontario, Canada). [1] She married John Small Spence on 21 Jan 1880 in Wellington, Ontario. [2] They farmed in Whittington, Amaranth. [3][4] Both were involved in the local church; its’ Sunday School, choir and Missionary Society; and the Temperance Lodge, etc. They moved to Orangeville late in life. After her husband died, she returned to the farm to live with her son John. [5] Elizabeth died 1 Apr 1943 at her son John's home on the family farm. She was buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Orangeville. [6]
