Biography

We regret to learn of the death of Mrs Valentine, at Norseman, W.A. Mrs Valentine, who was a Miss Johnstone, of Hog Bay, spent some years amongst us after the death of her husband, Capt. Valentine, before leaving to take up her residence with her married daughter in W.A. Great sympathy is felt for the bereaved relatives. She leaves two children, Mrs S. Russell and Mr Vivian Valentine, both of Norseman. Mrs Lyall and Mrs S. Jones are sisters, and Messrs N. and W. Johnstone brothers of the deceased lady. - DISTRICT OF DUDLEY. (1915, May 8). Emily Johnston 1851-1915 Her year of birth is calculated from her given age of 24 when she married Cornelius Valentine on 18 November 1875 on the Lefevre Peninsula (Port Adelaide). They had seven children all born in the Port Adelaide/Largs Bay area between 1876 & 1891. Five of the children died before reaching five years of age. Emily died on 4 May 1915 age 64 and is buried at Norseman. Cornelius died in the Mt Eliza Depot in Perth, W.A. on 24 January 1897 age 47. He is buried in the East Perth Cemetery - Chris Ward
