Biography
John was born on September 17, 1901[1], the son of James Johnston and Matilda Bradley.
In 1911 the family was living in the Village of Foresters Falls, located in Ross Township, Renfrew County[2].
He married Mary Lillas Monahan in 1933[3][4] Their marriage record reads:
- James William Johnston, clergyman, 31, bachelor, residing in Brockville, born in Cobden, son of James R. Johnston and Matilda Bradley, married
- Mary Lillas Monahan, school teacher, 23, spinster, residing in Brockville, born in Westboro, daughter of George L. Monahan and Hattie Mina Monahan,
- Witnesses: Mrs. G. L. Monahan, 195 Perth Street, Brockville, and H. Mina J. Monahan, K.G.H., Kingston,
- In the Town of Brockville, on the 11th day of July, 1933, by Bishop Geo. L. Monahan, 195 Perth Street.
Lillas predeceased him in 1995.
John died on January 23, 1998[5].
He was buried with his wife at Howard Cemetery, in Foresters Falls, Ontario[6].
