Photographer; Mason st., Polo; born in Springfield Township, Richland Co., Ohio, Dec, 13, 1825; came to Ogle Co., in 1837; engaged in farming, principally, until 22 years of age; from 1845 to 1853 he was in Cincinnati, Ohio; married Sarah J. Norton; they had ten children, seven have died, the living are --- Elva E., now Mrs. Osterhout; Charles N. and Harry; Mr. Johnston was Collector of Byron Township one year.
