Hi Mindy,

We have been working on correcting this and many wrongfully connected (to this family) lineages, to see what how and why we did things see: G2G Thanks for your help , it's appreciated :)

Wolfert Theunis is duplicate of Wolfert Webber , he wasn't married to Trijntje Jonas, we just sorted this whole lineage out see this G2G: So these profiles will have to be connected to the correct spouses and have to be merged as well. I'll connect them and set them as unmerged matches or propose merges already with the duplicates. In the G2G and at almost all profiles (the duplicates) things are explained . So hopefully we can get this done/corrected in no time . Thanks for your help :)

I'm matched what I believe to be another version of this lady. She really gets around.

Her mother was Unknown, so now instead of merging the very likely just another, duplicate mother away , we keep her as the Unknown mother she really was, to prevent any future confusion .

Used a recycle unknown for the new husband and father , left his Last name Unknown, because there's no source or prove he really was named Jan Roelofsz, other than the source . website added there. (added a hidden note to his Bio to make clear this is a recycled Unknown)

And indeed as far as I can tell from the same Dutch site Anneke Jans went to the New Netherlands with her husband Roelof Jansz , the children and her sister and mother, they don't really mention the father of Anneke and Marritje other than mentioning they came with their parents from Norway to Amsterdam and that he possibly was named Jan (Roelofsz ?) and this probably also based on the patronymics and the registration of Catherine (Tryntje) at the marriage of daughter Anneke with the patronymic Roelofs. Father isn't mentioned at this marriage as well, so I assume mother Tryntje already was a widow at that time, and maybe this is why she used the patronymic of her deceased husband ?

Hi Steven,

I'll explain how it was before, her daughter Anneke Jans was and still is married to Roelof Janssoon, this as we know is and was proven (there's a marriage record) correct.

In the previous situation, Catherine (Tryntje) Jans and her son in law Roelof Jansssoon both shared a father. So Catherine and her son in law Roelof because of that became siblings, this for sure wasn't correct. So it looked as if daughter Anneke married her uncle.

So to correct this, Catherine was disconnected from Jan Roellof, so this way they were no longer siblings but the son and mother in law as supposed.

The father of Maritje Jans and Anneke Jans was Unknown all we know is indeed their father very likely was named Jan with Unknown or maybe Roelofs patronymic. As you can see in the G2G we mentioned the possibility maybe she, Catherine (Tryntje) Jonas was registered at the marriage of her daughter Anneke with the patronymic of her husband , she was mentioned there as Catharine Roeloffs (so if maybe her husband was a Jan Roelofs ? ) . But we decided to leave Jan Roelof as father for Roelof Janssoon and no father (because there was no father left ) But here Huygens KNAW Dutch source it's also mentioned her husband and the father of Anneke and Marritje might have been a Jan Roelofsz)

Catharine was connected ( marriage) with this [Jan Rycken], but this was a wrong connection , so his marriage with her was removed . And there were a lot more wrong connections,(based on the legend) so now all families are corrected as far as we know. (added posts to explain how and why these corrections everywhere to make things clear)

So indeed to prevent future confusion we could add a father . I'll look around if maybe there's a Jan Unknown, or maybe a Jan Roelofsz would be a better option after all ?

So I am lost now. She went from two husbands to no husbands.

Did she come to New Netherland as a widow wtih two daughters?

That is how it appears to me, based on the bio note, "Tryn Jonas was a professional mid-wife and nurse, employed by the West India Company."

I suppose we should have a new Jan Unknown placeholder for the missing husband and father, so that the two removed profiles do not get re-attached in error.
