Judith Jonasdotter was likely born on her father's farm at Kingsessing; she was the second of ten children.
She married Peter Petersson Yocum about 1675,[1] and they had 10 children.
After her husband's death, she moved to present-day Berks County with sons Jonas and John. They lived on a 10,000-acre tract at Manatawney, on the Schuylkill River, which had been set aside by William Penn for resettlement of Swedish families who sold their land in the Philadelphia area. The resettled Swedes called the place Amity, in honor of the good relations they enjoyed, presumably with the Quakers or the Indians.
Her will was proven April 10, 1727 at Philadelphia. She signed her mark as "H." She gave daughter Mary Morgan two cows, her bed and furniture, her clothing, her side saddle, two pewter platters, and four pewter plates. Granddaughter Judith Morgan received a red year-old heifer calf. The remainder of her estate went to the children of her son Jonas, who was executor.
Judith Joakam was witness to the will of Ann Boon, January 1712-3.
