In the 1990s my father, Ira, made the following family note in his family history files-
A story that has persisted among descendants of Enoch Robert "Bob" Jones is that we are part Choctaw Indian. I can remember hearing my grandmother Wennie Lena Jones Moore and my mother Maggie May Moore Franklin talking about a law suit that had been filed against the government on behalf of the Indians and that my grandmother hoped to collect some money as her part. My half brother John Charles "Jack" Coleman tells me that he can remember making several trips from Bastrop, La to Columbia, Ms where they stayed with cousins of Wennie's while she visited a lawyer. Jack says he can remember her taking papers with her on these visits. I also remember being told by my mother that Grandmother didn't get any money because she was only 1/8th and you had to be 1/4 to share in the award. In my research I have so far been unable to verify this Indian ancestor...I hope that one day I may find copies of the papers Wennie filed in this suit.
