James, my Hodgsons in the UK and NZ have no connection whatsoever with the USA (other than that my father visited New York in around 1949)

The sons and daughters of the American Revolution puzzle me. What exactly are you promoting?

Hi James,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful. Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies. If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles. Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations. If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Hello,

Thank you for joining WikiTree. As a WikiTree Mentor I am available to answer any questions or help solve any issues you may be having. How is your experience with Wikitree going? If you have questions regarding Gedcoms, here's the link to the GEDCOM help category: GEDCOMS

Do you have Royal Ancestors? They are already here on Wikitree! Rather than create duplicate profiles for them, please contact the EuroAristo Project to discuss connecting your family line to their profiles. The Help Index is also an important place to find how to do most tasks.

Feel free to ask me via my profile page if you have any questions.

In response to your question about Patience Dillon (Dillon-614): Patience' mother was Lydia Hodgson and Patience also married a Hodgson (Thomas), but as far as I know, no one has determined who Lydia's parents were, thus we can't determine their relationship. The marriage was approved by the Quakers, so it can probably be assumed that it wasn't too close. By the way, Patience also had a daughter named Lydia Hodgson. Sure wish the Quakers would have been a little more imaginative with their names :)

I have been an amateur genealogist for many years. Much of what I know is thanks to the hard work of others, and I hope I have always thanked them. I have a full-time job so can't promise too much, but I do offer honesty, and perhaps a free translation now and then (I read many languages).

Hi James,

I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. Our process here is a little different than what you might find on other sites because of our goal of growing one worldwide tree with a single profile for each individual. Here's a link to a great step-by-step of the process including screenshots that you might find helpful. You might also want to check out our Before You Import a GEDCOM help page. Feel free to message me if you have any questions!

Welcome to WikiTree. We're glad you found us.

How To Use WikiTree is a good place to start. It is a step-by-step-guide to WikiTree basics. Our G2G Forum is searchable or you can post a question there. The Help Index is also an important place to find how to do most tasks.

If you would like to contribute your family's tree and you agree with our Honor Code (click the link to it in the drop-down menu in "Help" at upper right), volunteer here on your profile by typing a message with something referencing the Honor Code and sharing and we would be glad to add you to our WikiTree community. Donna
