Elizabeth was born in 1839 in Macon County, North Carolina. She is the daughter of Richard Henry Jones and Nancy Higdon. She passed away after 1900 in Jackson County, North Carolina.
Bartlett has married, reportedly in 1861, and in his household are wife, Elizabeth (Jones) Dills, and children: Rufus, Martha, John, Richard, William, and Lee. A small problem with the birth date for Rufus. He is listed as 11 years old, born 1859, but Bartlett was still at home with his mother on the 1860 census. Is the date wrong, or was Rufus born a little early?
Census: 1880 Federal
Date: 1 Jun 1880
Place: Ocona Lufty, Swain County, North Carolina[2]
Bartlett is a farmer in Swain County. In his household are his wife, Elizabeth, and children: Richard, Lee, David, Doctor, Hester, Nancy, Bartlett, and an unnamed son born in May 1880. This son is Lucius T. Dills. The couple will have one more son, John Dills, born in January 1887. He appears with his mother on the 1900 census. They are living with Elizabeth's son David C. Dills and his family.
Census: 1900 Federal
Date: 1 Jun 1900
Place: Barkers Creek, Jackson County, North Carolina[3]
Elizabeth and youngest son, John, are living with older son David C. Dills and his wife and children. Census states Elizabeth has borne 15 children and eight are still living in 1900. I have missed three children, having found only twelve.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Elizabeth by comparing test results with other carriers of her ancestors' mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Elizabeth:
