Biography

James was born in 1810. He passed away in 1874.

Bedford County, Tennessee Deed book is reference in findagrave memorial for Amelia Wilhoite Austin. The memorial includes research information, including that James M. Jones was married to Polly, formerly Polly Wilhoit, the sister of Willey Wilhoit who died intestate.

The death certificate for daughter Martha is in Allegheny, Craig, VA shows that she must have been born 1844 and that her parents were James M. Jones born Hocking Co. TN and Elizabeth Graham of Montgomery Co.

Daughter Martha is apparently the 23 year old in Craig Co. VA in 1870, daughter of James Jones 56 b. VA and Elizabeth 45 b. VA.

Martha is called Ann, age 17 in 1860 Salem, Roanoke, Virginia. Parents are James 47 and Elizabeth 40, both born Virginia.

1850 Montgomery VA has James 35, Elizabeth 22 and Martha 4.

Ancestry.com researchers show Mary Wilhoite died in 1860 in Bedford Co. TN. Wilhoite property in Bedford Co. TN names Madison Jones of Arkansas as son of James M. Jones.
