He had five siblings, namely: Melvin Alonzo, LeRoy, Robert Earl Sr, Mary Lorraine, and Roger Dale.

When he was 24, he married Opal Pauline Gaston, daughter of Clide Gaston and Mary Dooley, on Dec 23, 1953 in Richland Parish, Louisiana, USA. ^[2]

Funeral services for Thomas Matthew Jones, 83, of Holly Ridge, LA will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the Richland United Pentecostal Church, Holly Ridge, LA with Bro. Wayne Allen and Bro. Dewayne Whittington officiating.

Burial will follow in McKnight Cemetery, Holly Ridge, LA under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA.

Thomas was born April 18, 1929 in Magee, MS and passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013 at his residence in Holly Ridge, LA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hinze Matthew Jones and Mary Etta Counts Jones and brothers, Melvin, Robert, and Roger Jones.

Mr. Jones was a member of the Richland United Pentecostal Church. He was an Army veteran serving during the Korea Conflict and he served in the National Guard Reserves. Thomas was also a member of the N.R.A and was an avid deer hunter.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Opal P. Jones of Holly Ridge, LA; daughter, Mary Pauline Stewart of Holly Ridge, LA; sons, Clyde M. Jones of Montgomery, TX and Thomas "Duke" Jones and wife, Donna of Holly Ridge, LA; grandchildren, Clyde M. Jones, II of Breckenridge, Co, Cole Jones of Monroe, LA, Nic Jones and wife, Katie of Rayville, LA, Logan Stewart of Holly Ridge, LA, Landon Stewart of Holly Ridge, LA, Lauren Stewart of Holly Ridge, LA; and great grandson, Clyde Evan Matthew Jones, III of Malvern, AR.

Pallbearers are Cole Jones, Nic Jones, Logan Stewart, Landon Stewart, Ricky Goodman, and Mitchell Rawls.

Honorary pallbearers are Leo Whitstine, Paul Hatfield, and Huey P. Johnston

Visitation is 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Tuesday at Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville. ^{[4] [5]}
