Biography

Moses was born about 1762 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia. In 1791 he married Hester Thomas in North Carolina.[1] He passed away about 1851.[2]

Moses Jones Jr was born in Isle of Wight County, Virginia in September of 1762. This is documented in Jr's application for a Revolutionary War Pension.[3]

Moses Jones Jr also says in the aforementioned application for Revolutionary War Pension that he entered service in June, 1782 in Gates County, North Carolina.

1786 North Carolina State Census[4]

Moses Jones Jr appears in the NC State census and Moses Jones (Sr is not indicated in the records) is listed separately.

1790 US Census[5]

The 1790 US Census taken in Gates County, North Carolina lists Moses Jones Senior, and three lines below him is his Son Moses Jones (Jr, but not indicated as such in the census, but he does appear as Jr in other records in Gates County, NC around the same timeframe).
