Thomas was born in 1734 and is the son of Francis Jones and Jane Willis. He died in 1823. His wife, Priscilla, was born about 1738 and died in 1810. These are their known children:
Joseph Jones (born on 4 Sep 1754. He died on 8 Jul 1829)
Thomas Jones (born in 1760. He died in 1841)
Elizabeth Rose Jones (born in 1756 in , Bath, Kentucky)
John Jones (born in 1762. He died in 1851)
Francis Jones
Rachel Jones
Mary Jones
Jane Jones
James R. Jones (born in 1758)
Nancy Jones
Benjamin Jones
Thomas Jones came to Kentucky sometime prior to 1790 and purchased 133 acres of land from Enoch Smith, the founder of Mt. Sterling. This transaction is recorded as having occurred in April 1790 making it the earliest transaction identified for this family in Kentucky.
In 1806 Thomas Jones, Sr. transferred 48 1/2 acres to his son Francis Jones. The land was located "... between Small Mountains Creek and Upper Salt Springs on Licking Creek." Thomas signed his name with a capital "T" for his mark.
Thomas, Sr. made his "Last Will and Testament" on February 22, 1814 bequeathing all his possessions to his children with the exception of twenty acres to Joseph Thompson who appears to have been a son-in-law.
Thomas' will was witnessed by Enoch Smith, Jones Lockridge, and John Duckworth.
The Inventory of Thomas' property made after his death shows that he owned several slaves.
Research Notes
Most of the data on the source from FamilySearch are questionable.[1]
There are three marriages shown: Jane Smith Jones, Jane Thompson, and Priscilla Shortridge. Interestingly, both Janes share the same birth and death dates. Both also share some of the same children's names and both are showing children born before they are of child bearing age. Only Priscilla's age is compatible with the childrens' birth dates. But then again, she is shown as having 31 children.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Thomas by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree:
Do we have any documentation explaining the marriage to Jane Smith only 2 years after the marriage to Priscilla Shortridge? Death of the first spouse does not appear to be issue since she died about 1810.
(My vote is for the marriage to Priscilla since my DNA is a match for both Thomas and Priscilla.)
I have never found anything that convinces me that Thomas was married to Priscilla Shortridge. I do have some paperwork here that I am slowly getting through that says he was married to Priscilla Jane Smith. That is what I determined about 30 years ago and I am just now getting my paperwork organized and scanned into the computer. A very slow process. But I have looked at the Shortridge marriage and am still not convinced that it is the correct one.
Something seems fishy about these connections. It would seem logical the profile here is alluding to the same person as this guy (Jones-36009) ... but the GedMatch's (for the descendants) btw the two profiles aren't matching.

I don't know about the rejected Match. My mother I have several matches to Thomas Jones on AncestryDNA, but don't match those on GEDMatch listed on this profile. Hope this helps

Please look at this proposed merge again. They have the same parents etc. Plus your DNA profile is listed on both profiles.
Thanks!
