Biography

Marian Thompson Noe Norfolk - Marian Thompson Noe (Jones), 88, died peacefully at home on October 1, 2013 with her daughters present. She was born on September 5, 1925 in Norfolk, Va. She is survived by two daughters, Joyce N. Jones and Carole L. Noe both of Richmond, Va.; her grandson, Matthew Alden Jones of Richmond whom she lovingly called "My Angel Boy"; two brothers, Joseph F. Jones (Jeri) of Vero Beach, Fla. and Robert O. Jones (Shirley) of Sarasota, Fla. and New Albany, Ind., and sister-in-law Janie Jones of Suffolk, Va. In addition, she is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, and great-great-nieces and -nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Walke Truxtun Noe; her mother, Bertie Thompson Jones; her father, Clarence O. Jones; sisters, Elizabeth J. Keeney and Ruth J. Dawson; brother, Charles L. Jones; and a beloved niece, Barbara K. Wordinger. Marian was a loving mother and wife and was devoted to her nieces and nephews. Her legacy of compassion for her immediate and extended family is carried on by others. She was "Granny" to her grandson, Matthew, who was the joy of her life, and she took great pride in him. She deeply cared for her many friends. She loved to spend time with her family; was an excellent cook and seamstress; loved music and sang in the C & P Chorus in Norfolk, volunteered for Lee's Friends; played tennis until she was 80; and enjoyed traveling the world with her husband.
