Mary has not yet been found on the 1861 census but in 1871 it is likely that she was servant to John & Jane Davis & family in Cilycwm aged 19.
In 1891 Mary was living at the Royal Oak Inn with her sister Elina (or Eliza) and two lodgers, William Rawe (or Lang) and Phillip Mitchell both Miners aged 30 from Redruth (CON).
Eliza is probably Elena (Helena) [1]
In 1901 Mary was still at the Royal Oak with her sister Jane now Kinsey.
She wrote a will on 8 May 1908 which was proved on 14 Jan 1918.
Mary's will leaves her best set of chamber ware, best tea set & court stand to her Niece, Maggie Price of Carmarthen, her best chest of drawers to her Niece Mary Jane late of Llettergwyn, her grandfather clock to her nephew Johnny Dan, her night chair (commode) and £5 to her sister Jane, £5 to her sister Hannah, £5 to her brother David, £5 to the Salem Chapel, her wearing apparel and the house on lease to niece Lena Davies of Water Street, Ponterdulais, GLA. The residue (after sale) went to her sister Anne of Dowlais,GLA & Lena equally. The executor was Daniel Davies of Guest Cottage, Dowlais and it was witnessed by David Richards (the shop) and Eben Morgan of the vicarage. It was administered by Lena, wife of William Davies, Daniel having renounced probate.
Mary Jane and Johnny Dan are children of Jonah, her brother [2]
After marrying John and in widowhood, Mary was publican at the Royal Oak.
