Samuel Jones, a land surveyor, was b at Milton, MA, 8 Feb 1747, the son of Samuel and Mercy (Trott) Jones. He came to Robbinston, Maine in 1788, employed by Gov. Robbins, founder of the town. His wife, Mary Richards, was a descendant of Mayflower passengers, John Alden and Priscilla (Mullens). The first six Jones children were born in Massachusetts, the last two in Robbinston. When the Dennysville Congregational Church was organized in 1805, Samuel Jones and his eldest son, Samuel, Jr. were among the original members. In his old age Samuel, Sr. moved to Eastport where he died, 1 Mar 1824. His wife, Mary, died in 1815 in Robbinston. [1]
