David was born in Merthyr Mawr in 1844, son of David and Charlotte Jones (nee Dare). His father was a carpenter and David was ultimately one of nine children. He grew up in Merthyr Mawr, Wales and as an adult moved to Newport where he was a carpenter, like his father. [1]
David married Keturah Price, a widow at age 26, and mother of 3. [2] They lived in Newport and had another 7 children. David continued as a carpenter.
In 1907 David, Keturah and 4 of their children, as well as Florence, Keturah's daughter from her first marriage, along with her husband and children, immigrated to New Zealand. [3]
Sadly, David died less than 12 months later, at the age of 64. [4] He was buried at Meadowbank Cemetery in Auckland and his grave can be viewed here: [1]
