Bernice L. Glorfield, life-long St. John area resident, passed away Monday, July 28, 2014 at her home northwest of St. John. She was 85. Graveside Services will be held Thursday, July 31st at 11:00 a.m. in the St. John Cemetery. Viewing will be at Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax Wednesday from 10:00 to 4:00 or following the service. Bernice was the middle child of seven born to Eddie and Emma (Jenkins) Jones. She was born on the family ranch at Lancaster April 17, 1929. She attended grade school at Lancaster and went to St. John for high school. Bernice met Jack Robert Glorfield through a friend and the couple married February 16, 1946 in St. John. They made their home on the Glorfield ranch northwest of St. John and farmed together throughout their lives. Bernice was a busy homemaker and mother, always taking care of her family’s needs. She kept busy cooking for harvest crews, helping with haying and raising a large vegetable garden. She was well known for her bread-n-butter pickles or her delicious cinnamon rolls. Bernice liked to go fishing some, but primarily her life revolved around her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Bob and Sandi Glorfield, St. John; two daughters, Syrelda Moberly of Spokane and Jolene Boyle of Colfax; 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind 4 sisters, Colleen Hutton, Spokane, Juanita Brophy of Pullman, Doris Potts, Spokane and Jo Jones of Indiana; and one brother, Dale Jones of Spokane. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack in 2005, by a son Billy, and by a brother, Robert Jones. The family suggests memorial gifts be made to the St. John Vol. Fire Dept. or to Gentiva Hospice of Pullman.
