July 9, 1889
MISS ADELINE JONES, well-known lady of our city, died at home of
her brother-in-law, R.H. THOMPSON at Midway on Sat. evening at 5
o'clock. Miss Jones was dau. of late PRESLEY M. JONES (killed by
General raiders in streets of Covington during the war) and was
sister of MRS. BARBER, MRS. R.H. THOMPSON AND MR. H.A. JONES.
She hgad been afflicted for some time, and was a greeat sufferer, which
she bore with patience and resignation.
Her funeral took place at the MNethodist church, on Sunday afternoon,
the sermon being preached by Re. W.H. LaPrade. "May she sleep
sweetly."
Melissa Adeline Jones died before july 9, 1889, Will Signed july 22, 1887,
Probated August 5, 1889 -- left hger house in Covington to Houston A. Jones
and also the rest of her Estate.
