Biography

Mary Jones, one of the many daughters of Walter Jones of Chastleton House, Oxfordshire, married Edward Palmer of Blockley, Worcestershire on 17 Feb 1653. ^[1]

Mary and Edward had at least 2 children; Elizabeth born in Jan 1656 and sadly what is only described in the parish register as "an abortive child" 10 months later in Nov 1656. ^[2]

When Edward died in 1659, Mary placed a memorial to him in the floor of the church at Blockley which read Here rests Edward Palmer, Son of Robert Palmer and his wife Elizabeth Wise. To whose memory, his beloved wife Maria, daughter of Henry Jones of Chastleton, in the County of Oxford, Esquire, placed this last token of affection. He died on the 15th day of December, in the year of our Lord 1659, in the 45th year of his age.

That same year, Mary received a bequest from her uncle Edmund Fettiplace of Childrey. ^[3]

Mary married Thomas Hunt on 13 December 1666 in Blockley, Worcestershire, England.^[4] Thomas, child of Thomas Hunt & Mary Hunt, was baptised on 20 May 1668 in Blockley, Gloucestershire, England.^[5]
