James was born in 1819 to Mr Jones and Mrs Jones nee in the registration district of Llandrindod Wells, Radnorshire, Wales, United Kingdom.
James married[1][2]Esther Jones on 23 December 1945 in the parish of Bedwellty in Tredegar, Monmouthshire. Both parties are residing in Tredegar and the occupation noted for James is a Straightener.
The March 1851 census[3]shows James living with his wife Esther Jones, son James and daughter Jane Dipple in Cwmrhos, Tredegar, Monmouthshire. His occupation was on the Rails.
The April 1861 census[4]shows James, with his wife Esther Jones, son James, a Helper and daughter Jane Dipple , a Scholar living in Cwmrhos Row, Tredegar, Monmouthshire. His occupation was a Railwayman.
The April 1871 census[5]shows James, with his wife Esther Jones, daughter Jane Dipple and lodgers Evan Price, a Weigher in the Iron Works and Christmas Jones, an Engine Cleaner in the Iron Works, living in Queen Street, Uchlawrcoed, Tredegar, Monmouthshire. James had changed vocations and was now working as a Labourer in the Iron Works.
