Biography

William Jones was born on August 25, 1759 in Stonington, New London, Connecticut. He was a son of Henry Jones (1730-abt.1791) and Eunice (Minor; 1729-1774) [1], probably their fifth child.

He married in 1783, Elizabeth Spencer, with whom he had probably 2 children:

  • Elizabeth Jones Crary (1784–1852); married Isaac Crary II (1777-1868)
  • Henry Jones, b. 30 May 1786, Stephentown, New York; married Sally Monroe

William Jones passed away in Rensselaerville, New York, 1788. His grave is in Denison-Jones Cemetery, Stephentown, Rensselaer County, New York, USA [2].

Note: His widow, Elizabeth (Spencer) Jones, married second, Ebenezer Denison.
