Biography

Welsh Settlement of Pennsylvania written by Charles H. Browning on page 135:[1]

"Janne, or Jane Jones, b. in Merion, 15. 9mo. 1685, d. 27. 8mo. 1764, and was buried at the Goshen Meeting. She m. David Davis, and had nine children by him, four of whom married into the Ashbridge family."
Her husband, David Davis was an early member of Great Valley Presbyterian Church, founded in 1714 in Tredyffrin township. He later was an early settler of Uwchlan township.

Children

Children of Jane Jones and David Davis:

  1. Amos Davies born May 27, 1719, in Goshen Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania and married Ann Pratt, daughter of Joseph Pratt and Sarah Edward, about 1745 at either Newtown Monthly Meeting or Goshen Monthly Meeting. Their children were Sarah and Benjamin Davies.
  2. Hannah Davies born July 1, 1710.
  3. Richard Davies born May 3, 1712.
  4. Sarah Davies born July 20, 1715 and married Aaron Ashbridge of Goshen Township, on April 25, 1737. Her husband, Aaron Ashbridge, the son of George Ashbridge and Mary Malin, born December 25, 1712, in Goshen Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania and died May 1776 in Pennsylvania.
  5. Jonathan Davies born August 4, 1717 and died in 1761. He married Esther Haines, the daughter of Jonathan Haines and Mary Matlack. Their children were Mary, David, Jonathan, Priscilla, Rachel and Mary Davies.
  6. Susanna Davies born June 25, 1721.
  7. Jane Davies born about 1727, in Edgmont Township, Chester (now Delaware) County, Pennsylvania and died August 19, 1775, in Edgmont Township, Chester (now Delaware) County, Pennsylvania. She married Joseph Pratt of Edgmont Township, the son of Joseph Pratt and Sarah Edward. Their children were Abraham, Sarah, Jane, Joseph, Mary, David, Priscilla, Thomas and Sarah Pratt.
  8. Ellis Davies born December 24, 1713, in Goshen Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania and died in 1773. He married Lydia Ashbridge on November 7, 1741. Lydia Ashbridge, the daughter of George Ashbridge and Mary Malin, born November 22, 1719, in Goshen Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
  9. Priscilla Davies married Joseph Ashbridge on April 8, 1749. Joseph Ashbridge, the son of George Ashbridge and Mary Malin, born May 9, 1723, in Goshen Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania and died in 1796. Their children were Aaron, Joseph, Sarah, Priscilla, Mary, Hannah, Phebe and George Ashbridge.
