The Late Mrs. Margaret Malcolm.
Obituary
The death of Mrs. Margaret Malcolm, which occurred at the residence of her son (Mr. E. J. Malcolm, Malvern) on Thurs day last, came as a great shock to her many friends in Wallaroo (writes our local correspondent).
The late Mrs. Malcolm left Wallaroo a fortnight previously with the intention of having a short holiday, necessitated by the great strain after the sudden death of her husband, Mr. James Malcolm, only a few weeks previously. She was apparently in normal health on Wednesday night, but on Thursday morning was seized with paralysis, lapsed into unconsciousness, and passed away during the evening.
The deceased lady was born at Golden Grove in 1857, and was the eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jones, of Saddleworth. She married the late Mr. James Malcolm at Saddleworth in 1878, and settled in Wallaroo the same year.
There were 12 children by the marriage five sons and four daughters survive, and there are 12 grandchildren. Apart from her good work in the Benevolent Society, Mrs. Malcolm was ever ready to administer relief in necessitous cases. Her death means an irreparable loss to the town.
The surviving members of the family are Messrs
The funeral took place at Wallaroo on Saturday after the arrival of the train from Adelaide.
On Sunday night an impressive In Memoriam service was held at the Presbyterian Church.
