"It is not known how long he lived in Virginia after his marriage. He moved to North Carolina and lived near Guilford Court House. He moved from North Carolina to Georgia where he lived near Milledgeville. He also lived in Oglethorpe Co. About 1818 he moved to Alabama and settled on the Conecuk River, where he became a prominent and influential man. He was one of five commissioners appointed to select a county seat and establish Covington Co. (Acts of Alabama 1821 pp 69 and 1822 pp 116-117)."

His pension application supports the general facts. He stated he was born in 1762, in Dinwiddie county, was raised in Brunswick County, where he was drafted. He moved later, to North Carolina, Alabama and finally Georgia where he lived in 1832.[4]
