DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Wood by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Wood:
Wood Jones is the son of Peter m Mary Batte. (Jones-8083 & Batte-7), according to Kathryn Gearhart; JSTOR article has him as son of the same Peter (but doesn't mention Peter's wife). (page 288, http://www.jstor.org/stable/1919429 - Peter with will proved 1726 is father of Wood Jones & others)
it appears the dar patriot ancestor Wood Jones (#A062815) is the same as this Wood Jones (b Prince Geo. Co, 1710-20/d Amelia Co, 1782), although no DAR applications have been through philip & unity (search database at http://services.dar.org/Public/DAR_Research/search_adb/default.cfm )
