Edward Jordan was born in Ashchurch, Gloucestershire, England.

Birth

Edward was born in 1585 and baptised[1] 14 Jan 1585 at Ashchurch: St Nicholas. Edward's father is Thomas Jordan and Edward was the youngest of 6 children all born in Ashchurch:

William born October 1574
Anne born 1576
John born 1578
Elizabeth born 1580
Thomas born 1584

Ashchurch is approximately 18 miles south of Worcester and Edward would seem to have relocated to Worcester when he married Elizabeth Broughton.

Marriage

Edward Jordan married[2] Elizabeth Broughton on 10 Jul 1608 in Saint Swithin, Worcester, Worcester, England. Elizabeth's father was Faulke Broughton and he must have died after 1624 as all Edward and Elizabeth's children were born then and are all remembered in his will.

They had 10 children together:

Margaret[4] (borm 1610 in Worcester)
Robert (born 1611) and baptised[5] on 12 Jan 1612, son of Edward Jorden, in Worcester: St Martin-in-the-Cornmarket, Worcestershire, England.

Elizabeth[7] (born 1615 in Worcester)
Mary[8] (born 1616 in Worcester)
Margery[9] (born 1619 in Worcester)
Thomas[10] (born 1621 in Worcester)
John[11] (born 1622 in Worcester) and
Dorothy[12] (born 1624 in Worcester)

According to the transcription of the will (see below) Edward operated a book shop in Worcester and owned at least 2 horses which were stabled there.

Edward was named in the 1614 will of his father Thomas Jordan of Ashchurch, Gloucestershire [13].

Death

Edward died in 1637 from the Black Plague and was buried[14] on 22 Jun 1637 in Worcester, Worcestershire, England. There is a transcription of his will on Ancestry (at https://www.ancestry.com/mediaui-viewer/tree/167466105/person/332261391101/media/e0972bd2-3351-4280-b394-4bebbd77ec1f and subsequent page posts) that says that both Edward and his wife Elizabeth died of the Plague. The will[15] of Edwardi Jorden, granted probate on 2 Aug 1637. Died about 1637 in Worcester, Worcestershire, England.

Research Notes

The transcription of the will notes his wife Elizabeth and only 8 children viz: Foulke, Robert, Edward, Marie, Margerie, Thomas, Dorothy and Margaret. John died a child and Elizabeth died just before her father - probably the result of the Plague.
