George Edward Jordan was born on 30 Dec 1881[1] in China Grove, Rowan, North Carolina.[2]
In 1900, Geo. E. Jordon lived in Locke Township, Rowan, North Carolina, with his parents, George W. and Mary E. Jordon, 3 siblings and a nephew. His father was a farmer.[3]
George, 21 of Locke Township, married Lillian Viola Eagle, 17 of China Grove, on 6 March 1904 in Rowan County. The ceremony was performed by P.A.D. Peeler, J.P., in his office, with James Eagle and Lillian Shepherd as witnesses.[4] Lillian died in 1923. She was the mother of all of his children.
When he registered for the World War 1 Draft on 12 Sept 1918, "George Edwards Jorden" said he was 36 years old, born on 30 Dec 1881. He lived in China Grove and worked for the Peterson Manufacturing Co., weaving in a cotton mill. George was of medium height and stout build, with light brown eyes and dark hair. His nearest relative was Lilly Viola Jorden of China Grove.[1]
George was married twice. His second marriage was to Beulah Wilhelm, to whom he was married on 30 April 1934.[5]
George Edward Jordan died on 8 Jan 1949 and is buried at the Harris Chapel Cemetery, Rowan County, North Carolina.[2] You can see a picture of his gravestone at FindAGrave.
George died intestate and Spencer S. Jordan, age 31, was named administrator of his estate in Rowan County, Noirth Carolina. Eight other children were names in the estate papers: Roy Edward Jordan, 44; Bessie Mae (Jordan) Bame, 43; Myrtle Duree Jordan, 40; John Everett Jordan, 38; Harry Lee (Leo?) Jordan, 36; Helen Louise (Jordan) Shepherd, 35; Frances Elizabeth (Jordan) Cline, 29; Robert Leon Jordan, 26. All were of China Grove, Rowan, North Carolina, except Frances, who was of Kannapolis, North Carolina.[6]
