DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Pamela by comparing test results with other carriers of her ancestors' mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Pamela:
Pamela Jewel Whitworth and Jordan-6979 are the same person based on a 1910 Census record that lists her as the daughter of Thomas Calvin Whitworth. Her name is listed as Palmer J. and she is 10 months old according to the document. She is not listed as Jewel Jordan until 1920, at which time T.C. Whitworth was remarried to a woman named Lizzie (census records look like they say "Reggie"). Lizzie (Elizabeth Coston Jordan) was her stepmother, as the 1910 census shows that T.C. Whitworth's first wife was a woman named Cleavie (formerly Dendy)
Additionally, my grandmother is the niece of Pamela Jewel, and she is still living. The information is not based on just documentation, but also on interviews/conversations I have had with her.
Whitworth-902 and Jordan-6979 appear to represent the same person because: I believe that the two people listed are the same individual. A 1910 census record shows Pamela Jewel to be the daughter of Thomas Calvin Whitworth and Clevie Pamela Dendy. I know that Thomas Calvin Whitworth married Elizabeth Ann Jordan, but a 1920 census record shows that Pamela is listed as Calvin Whitworth's (head of household) daughter, not stepdaughter. (Ulysses Jordan is listed as a stepson.) Because the children are listed in age order, I believe this was just improper formatting on the part of the census taker. (Jewel is listed under Ulysses Jordan, therefore causing her surname to be coded as Jordan and not Whitworth.)
