John was born in 1645 in Cape Elizabeth, Province of Maine. He was the 1st of six children of Rev. Robert and Sarah (Winter) Jordan.
John Jordan was a fisherman and was in Portsmouth, New Hampshire in 1678.
John married Elizabeth Styleman[1] (aka Stileman) about that same year (1678), both being "of Portsmouth" at that time.
A deed of land (Richmond Island, off today's Cape Elizabeth, Maine), which was received by John from his father, Robert, was deeded to his "intended" wife Elizabeth Stileman, this transaction witnessed (in July 1679) by Elias Stileman. This Elias is believed to be Elizabeth's Uncle Elias (brother to her father, Richard).
John and Elizabeth lived for a time in Pemaquid at an "old" invitation of the N.Y. government for his family to settle there, but soon they removed to Cape Elizabeth, Cumberland, Province of Maine.
They had at least four children described in Noyes et al. They included John, Richard, Robert, and Mary.
John passed away[2] about October 1725 in Cape Elizabeth, his estate settled in Falmouth, Province of Maine on December 4, 1725.
