Lydia Julian was born in 1746, in Winchester, Frederick county, Virginia, a daughter of George Julian and Hannah Madden. About 1768, Lydia married Joseph Field, who died October 7, 1780, at the Battle of Kings Mountain, in York county, South Carolina, during the American Revolutionary War. The known children of Joseph Field and Lydia Julian are:
William Field(s), born 1761, in Orange county, North Carolina, died 1800, in Liberty Township, Randolph county, North Carolina, married Charity York, in 1785
Peter Field 1768-1815 m. Charlotte Vickrey, in 1788
Mary Field 1770-1820 m. James William Parsons, a son of George Parsons
Patience Field married Evan Parsons
Nancy Ann Field, born April 12, 1773, in Guilford county, North Carolina, died May 26, 1818, married James Coltrane, born October 12, 1771, a son of William Coltrane
Lydia Field, born November, 1776, died October, 1850, in Franklin county, Missouri married Samuel W. Short, a son of Aaron Short and Sarah Bird Oldham
About 1783, Lydia married, secondly, William Armfield born in 1720, in Pennsylvania, a son of John Armfield, 1695-1792, and a widower of Mary Hamilton. William had migrated with Quakers, led by his father in 1765, to Guilford, North Carolina. William furnished supplies for the North Carolina Militia and is honored for his Patriotic Service by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution as DAR Ancestor #A003041.
Lydia and William both had children from their first marriages, and became the parents of two more sons, one who died young. The son that lived to adulthood is:
Joseph B. Armfield, born October 13, 1785, in Pomona Guilford county, North Carolina, died December 25, 1880, in Guilford county, married Eleanor Stevenson
Lydia (Julian) Field-Armfield died in 1819, in Guilford county, North Carolina and is buried in the churchyard of the Walnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church. [1]
