"Johann or Johannes Jung of Trupbach, b. probably ca. 1660, was the father of John Young, the 1734 immigrant to Virginia. As "Johannes Jung" he was godfather in 1680 to his nephew, Johannes Heimbach, son of Philipp and Margreth (Jung) Heimbach. The only other record of Johann Jung (. ca. 1660) is the christening of his son, Johannes, "son of Johann Jung and Anna Katherina his wife of Trupbach," b. Sunday, Feb. 29, 1693, at Trupbach and chr. on Esto mihi Sunday, 1693, his godfather being Johannes Holtzklau, schoolmaster at Trupbach. As there is no other record of children of this marriage it is probable that Johann Jung died soon after the birth of his son.
"He was certainly dead before the son married in 1720. There is no record of the marriage of Johann Jung and Anna Katharina, though it probably occurred around the year 1690. However, sponsorships in the Jung and Holtzklau families make it practically certain that Anna Katharina was identical with Kathrin, b. 1667, eldest child of Hans Henrich Holzklau, schoolmaster of Krombach and Trupbach, and sister of Jacob Holtzclaw, the 1714 immigrant."[1]
