Christian /Kauffman was born in 1724, in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania, a son of John Kauffman and Anna (Bomberger) Kauffman. Probably named for his maternal grandfather, Christian Bomberger. Wife's name was Barbara (?nee) [1] Christian died in 1816, in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania and is buried in the Kauffman Family Graveyard. [2]
Christian and Barbara lived on the 230 acre tract, which had been primarily surveyed in October of 1733, to Martin Kauffman, but on September 21, 1743, was acquired by John Kauffman, Christian’s father. Christian built a mill on the property, known later as “Nissley’s Mill.” In 1782, Christian was listed with 230 acres, 3, horses and 2 cows. He was taxed 32 pounds. Christian died in 1816, and his executors were his brother, Michael Kauffman, and another Christian Kauffman, “the miller.” [3]

John Kauffman, who died 1838, unmarried. He bequeathed his estate to his younger brother, Christian, who died in 1843, unmarried.

After further research it is determined that DAR Ancestor #: A063712, is NOT the same person: The Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution has records for a veteran Christian O. Kaufman, Sr., who was born circa 1730, in Germany and died March 1, 1799, in Manor Township, Lancaster county, Pennsylvania. He served in the companies of Captain Mann and Captain Domen, under the command of Colonel Sigler, in Lancaster county. His wife's name was Barbara Baer and they had a son named Christian, whose wife's name was Elizabeth.
