Andrew Kaufman was born circa 1718, in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania, a son of Andreas Kauffman, the immigrant from Switzerland. Andrew was named in his father's Will, dated March 12, 1741. It had been his father's wish that when he died, the property which he owned in Manor Township would be divided into three parts. Andreas's second wife, Elizabeth, was to have the portion on which the homestead had been built. Andrew and his brother Christian would draw lots to determine which one would have the other two lots, and then pay a fair share to the other heirs. When the Will was probated in the latter part of 1744, the lot was cast in Andrew's favor and it was determined that he would pay £207-6sh-1d to each of his brothers for their inheritance. (Some of them had already married and moved away.) [1]
Andrew married Magdalena Martin, daughter of Christian Martin (1694-1758) of Manor Twp, [2] probably c.1742. They were the parents of :
Andrew died in 1763, in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania. [3]
The will of Andrew Kauffman of Manor Twp was not transcribed into the register as it had been written in German. The register records that the will had been witnessed by Michael Witmore and Ulrich Roth, and was proven on 23 Mar 1763. Letters testamentary were granted to executors Michael Shank and Andrew Kauffman Jr. [4] (Andrew Kauffman Jr clearly was not the child born in 1760, and is identified by one researcher as Andrew son of Isaac. [2])
The Kauffman genealogy (whose author presumably had inspected the original German will) records that Andrew left 177 acres of the old homestead to his oldest son, Christian, and directed his younger sons, Jacob and Andrew, to draw lots to decide who should have his other property. (This same lot-drawing mechanism had been invoked in the 1743 will of the older Andrew Kauffman.) The executors distributed 29 pounds 16 shillings and 8 pence to Andrew's widow, Magdalena, and 8 pounds 10 shillings 5-1/2 pence to each of Andrew's seven children. [2]
NB : Andrew's estate was given into the administration of Andrew Kauffman Jr in 1763. This clearly can not have been Andrew Kauffman b.1760 who moved to Tennessee. Was there another Andrew Kauffman?
There were three Find A Grave memorials for his wife. Two of them indicate that she is the daughter of Christian M. Martin and Magdalena (Schneider) Martin. They have since been merged into [5] I have removed the links to the old memorials but left all of the information. November 16, 2021 Sheila Tidwell

It seems unlikely, at that early date in American History, that if his wife, did move back East (her parents did not) that her remains would be shipped back for burial, but not entirely impossible.
