Born 1875, the year after her parents were married, Miniche "Minnie" Kaufman was the daughter of Menno Kaufman and Lydia (Wildfang) Kaufman of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Sometimes calling herself Mary, she appears at age 6 on the 1881 Canada Census at Walkerton, Ontario, along with her parents and her paternal grandmother, Mary Kaufman, age 71 (born 1810).
Mary appears to have married to Heinrich Albert Czernichow (aka Gedalje Avram Czerniak), an immigrant from Ukraine, at a young age, perhaps 16. Efforts to find them on the 1891 census for Canada have not been successful. They seem to have returned to Ukraine shortly after their marriage, which may explain Mary's absence from the Canada Census in 1891.
See Wikipedia: Walkerton, Ontario.
