- 1911 Census he is 18 yeas old. He is living at 7 Whittington Terrace, (Shepherdswell), Dover, Kent. He is single and living with his mother and siblings. He is a Sinker (A sinker in mining was a worker in the 1800s who specialized in creating new vertical mine shafts. The job was highly skilled and the workers who did this work were often regarded as an elite workforce. He worked in Colliery (coal mining) [2]
