Brinkman, Charles. The History of Taylor County. Volume 1. Taylor County Historical and Genealogical Society. 1989. page 160.

"Samuel Keener, who had attained the unusual age of 100 years, died at his home near Fetterman, Friday, December 20, 1872. The Keener family was amoung the oldest settlers of Taylor county, and one of the most noted in the early history of this section of Western Virginia. Samuel Keener was born on the old Keener homestead near Fetterman in 1792, and followed the pursuit of a husbandryman practically all of his life. His issue, the oldest of which was living at the age of 64 years at the time, had the body of this patriarch interred in the old Keener cemetery on the hill along the Northwest Turnpike just back of the present residence of Dr. E. R. Bucklew."

Keener-44 and Keener-43 appear to represent the same person because: All dates are only one year apart; both of these are listed as children of Samuel Keener 1776-1872 with different mothers.
