William & Ann arrived in America on 27 Sep 1727, on the Ship "James Goodwill", David Crocket Master. The ship sailed from Rotterdam to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Traveling with them were ( two brothers named Adam and Hans.
He remained there until his death, while some of his descendants were among "among the oldest settlers" of Taylor County, West Virginia, and "one of the most noted in the early history of this section of Western Virginia."
'Jackson Co, NC Heritage book, pg 311 gives a summary of the Keener family. 'On 28 July 1741 by land warrant Ulrick was issued 50 acres in Lancaster Co, PA, his occupation is listed as stonemason. Ulrick was in Augusta Co, VA with land grant #G-463 for 300 acres on 20 Oct 1750 on NR Shenandoah adjacent to George Byrne and Hugh Devinie, by the Great Waggon Road. This part of Augusta Co. became Shenandoah Co. in 1778. In August 1756 Ulrick served with the Augusta Co. militia, Capt. John Denton's Company of Foot, in the Colonial Forces... Elizabeth 'Mary' Keener of Shenandoah Co, VA found in the 1785 census as a widow, was last found in the 1790 VA census.'
Ulrich Keener applied for 50 acres of land in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania "Situate in Warwick Township Adjoining Adam Keener's land." The application was dated 28 July 1741. This was also about the time that his son Ulrich was born in Lancaster.
