Biography

Terry Albert Keener was born in 1859. He was the son of John Andrew Jackson Keener and Rachael Ruth Graham. He passed away in 1939.

Records indicate that Terry Albert Keener and Maranda Dykes had three other children - Jackson (or Jackie) Keener, Harvey Keener, and Ella Keener. The records are not conclusive. According to family history, the four oldest children of Terry and Miranda contracted measles. Three of them died within a period of two days, only Albert Henry survived.

Facts about prison sentence as told by a 93 years old granddaughter-

Terry had a neighbor whose cattle kept knocking down Terry's fence and then stomping Terry's garden, flowers, and yard. He kept telling his neighbor to repair his own fences so his cattle would not get over to Terry's place. After awhile, as time went on Terry began to just keep all of the neighbor's cattle that came onto his property. Terry kept them secure with his own cattle and claimed they were his. Terry refused to return the cattle to his neighbor. He physically fought with the neighbor several times, and then the neighbor pressed charges. The court found Terry Albert guilty of "theft of stealing cattle."

Terry Albert Keener was sentenced to a 2 year term in prison. He was not locked up inside the big prison in Huntsville, Texas. Instead he was sent to a "Prison Work Farm" in south Texas for 2 years. He got out two months early for good behaviour.

The prison work farm record shows Terry Albert Keener as 38 years old, 5 foot 7 inches tall, weighing 142 pounds, with dark complexion, dark hair, and grey eyes. It also showed he had a lot of scars, and could read and write. His time of conviction was 09/20/1899 and his discharge was 07/20/1901.

Terry Albert Keener is buried at the Paoli Cemetery, Paoli, Garvin County, Oklahoma, USA.
