Biography
Basil was the son of Edwin and Minnie (Lee) Keeney of Kanawha County, West Virginia, and the brother of Robert, John, Opal, Everett, Emil, Elvin, and Lyle. He was born in Kanawha County in 1917.
Basil married Geneva Embree of Madison County, Kentucky, on November 3, 1918. Their daughter, Dolores, was born about 1940. In 1940, the family was living on the farm of Joe Cox in Hamilton County, Ohio, where Basil was working as a farm hand. Basil died in 1999 in Ohio and is buried in Madison County, Kentucky, in his wife's family cemetery.
