Buried 1/2 mile South, 1/2 mile East of St. Sebastian Church. Injured by a horse in a stable and died shortly thereafter. A large man, standing over 6'6" tall and weighing over 300 pounds, his coffin was a large hollowed-out tree.
Peter's son John Keepes married Harriet A Goodhart Crowell on 29 May 1879 in Wabash, Illinois, United States.[1]

Petrus (Peter) Keepes was born in Fuchsstadt, Bavaria, Germany, son of Petri Kippes and Margarete Wahler . He married Barbara Shumann in Germany and had three children: Mary; Peter; John. He died shorlty after being injured by a horse. He was a tall man, standing over 6'6" and weighed over 300 pounds. His coffin was a large hollowed-out tree. He was originally buried in the Keepes Cemetery, which was later farmed over. A relative managed to recover three of the old Keepes tombstones and erected those at St. Sebastian Cemetery in 1961.
