Ida was born on 15 March 1884 in Ontario, Canada. She was the daughter of Peter Nelson Keller and Mary Catherine (Fairbairn) Keller.^[1]

When Ida was about 21 she married Charles Edgar Kennedy in about 1906 in ?Michigan, USA. The couple had 8 children: Charles Wesley Kennedy, Mabel Irene Keller, Archibald Goodson Kellar, Ida May Kellar, Ann Amelia Kellar, William Kellar, Albert Kenneth Keller and Aleta Maria Kellar.^{[2] [3]}
