Timeline of County changes for Virginia; 1734- Orange Co., created and from it in 1738 Augusta Co., and 1738- Frederick Co., created. 1772- Dunmore Co., created from parts of Frederick Co. 1778- Dunmore Co., ended and became 1778- Shenandoah Co. · Event: County Formations 1734-1778 Virginia · Note: 1734 Orange Co., created and from it in 1738 Augusta and Frederick Co. were created. 1772 Dunmore was created from parts of Frederick Co. 1778 Dunmore Co. was ended and became Shenandoah Co.
Event: Virginia Tax Rolls 1764-1783 ·
  • Note: A John Keller is listed as follows; Frederick Co., 1764, Dunmore Co., 1774, 1775, 1776 and Shenandoah Co., 1783. (The counties had split off during this period) he likely never moved. Note: John probably lived near Stony Creek, Shenandoah Co. Va. He sold the farm he inherited to Russell Borden.
  • Aug 1786 John Keller was given a land grant (likely for Revolutionary war service) in Shenandoah Co., VA. on Stoney Creek. He bought 400 acres of the "richest creek bottom," in Greene Co., at the confluence of Dry Creek and Roaring Fork of Lick Creek about 5 air miles due south of Greensville. ·
  • Census for Tennessee 1800,1810,1820 all destroyed.
  • Note: (Research):There are several world tree notes that John also married Angeline Lindsay (b. bef 1791), on 6 Feb 1806 in Shenandoah Co., VA. If so children b. after that date are likely hers and Johns [NOTE - this John dies in 1800, so hard for him to be the one who marries Angeline Lindsay in 1806!]
