Charles James Kellett was born on 25 January 1915 in Ravensbourne, Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand[1] to Edward Kellett and Jennet Harkess.
He was in Ravensbourne School from 11 March 1920 to 16 February 1923 with a couple of breaks[2] before leaving New Zealand to go to Scotland.
He married Henrietta Sellars Robertson in 1938[3][4]. They had four children together
Charles served his apprenticeship at the Railway workshops, Hillside Road, Dunedin. Completed in October 1937. as a Fitter and Turner. [5]He served 2 years as a journeyman. He trained as a school teacher at the beginning of the war and taught at King Edward Technical College 1939 till 1946.
I next have him recorded on 11 December 1945 when he signed an affidavit stating his place of birth, His knowledge of his mother and that he was a teacher. [6]
The family moved to Waikaka where Charles worked as an apiarist.
The family moved to Mandeville 1947 and Charles continued with beekeeping but also taught at Gore High School.
He traveled to England arriving with the family on 2 August 1954 at Southampton, England[7] [8] .
While in England he taught at the Ryecotewood College of Rural Crafts, Thane, Oxford. [9].
The family returned to new Zealand 1955 on board "Rangitane" [10].
The family moved back to Dunedin and lived at 51 Highgate in 1957. Charles taught at Kaikorai Valley High School.
In 1962 Charles and Rita moved onto the Taieri, Wylies Crossing.
In 1973 he moved to Wanganui. He taught at Wanganui Boys high till he retired.
In the 1980's he moved to Onesua High School, Vanuatu, as principal.
He was living at 112 Portal street, Wanganui at least since 1981[11] as that was the last address of his wife. He died on 21 October 1996 in Wanganui, New Zealand[12].
He was buried on 24 October 1996 in Wanganui cemetery in the same plot as his wife Henrietta Sellars Kellett[4].
