Biography

Hannah was born in 11 SEP 1699 Hatfield, Hampshire MA. [1] [2][3][4][5]She was the daughter of Hannah (Dickenson) Kellogg and Samuel Kellogg.
Hannah marred Nathaniel Clark (1693 - 1737) in Lebanon, CT about 1717.
Between 1720 and 1736, Hannah gave birth to eight children, six of whom were boys.
The children of Hannah and Nathaniel, all born in Lebanon, CT:[6]
  1. Nathaniel (1720 – 1795?) married Martha Witt in 1740, moved to Granville, MA and then Hartland, CT.
  2. Asahel (1721/22 – 1784) married Lydia Brewster; settled in Granville, MA.
  3. Silas (1724 – 1809) married1st Keziah Culver, 2nd Abigail White; settled in Lebanon, CT.
  4. Hannah (1727 - aft. 1750) married Joseph McCall in 1749.
  5. Jared (1729 – 1775) married Mary Abell in 1754; settled in Lebanon, CT.
  6. Lois (1731 – bef 1758)
  7. Ruth (1734 – 1826) died in Lebanon, CT.
  8. Amos (1736 – 1795) married Patience Williams abt. 1767; settled in Washington, MA.
In 1729, the Goshen Congregational Church was created as a branch of the First Congregational Church in Lebanon. On the list of thirty two men who organized the new church is Nathaniel and his brother Aaron. Hannah's name appears on a list of persons admitted to the church in 1730.[7]
Nathaniel died in Lebanon in 1737 at the age of 44, a little over a year after the birth of Amos. He is buried buried in the Exeter Cemetery in Lebanon, CT.
Hannah, though only 38 years old when Nathaniel died, did not remarry. She died Jan. 3, 1759, age 59 yrs, in Lebanon, New London, Connecticut[8] [3][4][5][9]
She is buried next to Nathaniel in the Exeter Cemetery.[9][3][10]


Research Notes

Although Hannah's year of death appears as 1759 on her headstone, a document in her husband's probate papers proves that she died in 1758. "..the estate of Mrs. Hannah Clark of said Lebanon; Deceased ... this first day of may AD: 1758." The entire record can be found in Images.[8]
