Biography

Ethel Gertrude Kelly was born 5 Aug 1906 in Moore, Sanilac, Michigan to parents John A. Kelly and Sarah E. Smith. ^[1]

In 1910 States census recorded Ethel Kelly was 3 years old and living on the family farm in Moore Townsip, Sanilac County, Michigan. Also living with them were her grandparents, Adam M. Kelly (spelled Kelley, age 75) and Augusta M. (age 68) and her parents John Kelly and Sarah Kelly, (age 37), and her siblings Nettie B. (age 9), Grace L. (age 7), Lois W. (age 5), and Alger (age 1).^{[2] [3]}

During the 1920 United States census, Ethel lived on a farm in Moore Township, Sanilac County, Michigan. She was 13 years old and attending school. Living with her were parents John A. (age 49) and Sarah E. (age 47), and siblings Nettie B. (age 19), Grace L. (age 17), Lois W. (age 15), Alger (age 10), Stuart E. (7), and Elwin R. (4). Augusta M. Kelly, her widowed grandmother, also lived with the family along with Thomas E. Smith, her widower grandfather.^[4]

Ethel died of diptheria at age 14 on 1 May 1920.^{[5] [6]} She was buried in Moore Township Cemetery in Snover, Sanilac County, Michigan. A photograph of her headstone can be found on the Find-a-Grave website [3].
