Note: He took up land in the Everard district north of Mt Templeton in 1884. He called the property Log Hut Farm. In 1888 he was appointed as a Justice of the Peace. In 1898 he sold the farm and took up land in the Snowtown district. After the death of his first wife he purchased Wallabanin, at Snowtown.
He was Captain of the Snowtown Defence Rifle Club which not only competed but also was involved in raising funds for the troops fighting the Boer War in South Africa.
In 1902 he became the owner of a butcher shop in Snowtown which he operated for only a short time. He married for the second time and continued to live at Wallabanin until the Kelly Brothers partnership was dissolved in 1906. He lived at Fulham for some time and then at Salisbury. In 1908 he purchased a farm at Rhynie but three years later sold up and moved to Saddleworth. In the early 1920's he moved to High St, Kapunda, opposite Sir Sydney Kidman's property. He later moved to Port Rd Woodville where he lived until his death in 1936.
